When I moved to Vegas, I had to find a new primary care physician. My wife and I have had challenges finding providers that we were completely satisfied with. In 2017, dōTERRA International (the company we promote) announced that they were going to start a healthcare initiative which integrates traditional and and holistic healthcare. dōTERRA already had research initiatives which focused on the study of essential oils and supplements. Their vision was to have doctors incorporate this research into medical practice. They announced Prime Meridian Healthcare, a direct primary care provider. I loved the concept and wanted to be part of that mission.
In the early stages of Prime Meridian’s development, we visited a partner provider in St. George, Utah and we absolutely loved our experience. Dr. Scott Noorda DO spent an hour on my appointment, and an hour on my wife’s appointment. He ordered bloodwork. We were traveling a lot at the time, and we did tele-medicine while we we were in the Philippines. He recommended supplements to support our health goals. It was our first experience with a Direct Primary Care (DPC) provider. For a monthly retainer fee, we had direct access with the doctor that provided us insight to nutrition, lifestyle and our health. His is medical expertise help make us better choices for health. For the first time, I felt treated like a human being and not just a medical chart.
Meanwhile, dōTERRA started building a 41,000 sq ft healthcare facility in Pleasant Grove, Utah. In 2019, they announced Dale Brown COO for Prime Meridian Healthcare and the facility opened up later that year. Initially, it primarily served the dōTERRA’s 3,000+ local employees. Later on, it offered services to the local community. Eventually, they opened up as a destination clinic for everyone.
Cassy and I decided to check it out. We booked our appointment and headed to Pleasant Grove.
We got our check ups and spent an hour each with Casey, a nurse practitioner to go over our health goals. We got our blood drawn. They ordered additional lab tests to the comprehensive metabolic test They tested for vitamin and minerals. This is great to know if you are benefiting from supplementation. The following week we did a followup over video conference to go over the lab results. My Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 levels needed some improvement. They were sufficient by common standards, but wanted to get it to optimal levels. I could choose the supplement on my own, or she could prescribe some Vitamin D, and I could pick it up at my local pharmacy (CVS). I decided to go with the pharmacy for Vitamin D. I was prescribed on 50,000 IU a week. For Vitamin B12, I decided to source it from Thorne. This was on top of the dōTERRA brand multi-vitamins. I tested again in my followup and so improvement. After a few months I was at optimal levels. I also was incorporating diet and lifestyle changes, and my A1C and insulin levels improved. We went over some ideas. I’d also see the physical therapist and registered dietician on other visits. I was also given essential oil recommendations with instructions like a prescription. It was interesting to compare what they recommended to what wellness advocates recommend, it was very similar. In fact, prime meridian’s recommendation were more precise based on their research and the recipes were more simpler. When I asked about it, they explained how they determined the choice of essential oils and the dosage. They just recommended what they’ve had the best experience, not any more or less. Sometimes we get too complicated with our recommendations with a lot of oils, when 1 or 2 will do.
It was quite amazing to see dōTERRA’s vision come to fruition.
We at dōTERRA are committed to sharing the life-enhancing benefits of therapeutic-grade essential oils and essential oil enhanced wellness products with the world.
dōTERRA Mission Statement
There were several objectives. One of the last objectives that dōTERRA wanted to accomplish is bringing healthcare professionals to further study the application of essential oils in modern health care practices.
We will do this by bringing together healthcare professionals of traditional and alternative medicine to encourage further study and application of therapeutic-grade essential oils in modern health care practices.
One of the objectives in dōTERRA Mission Statement
Today, Prime Meridian Healthcare employs a team of qualified medical professionals.
They are working with researches to study essential oils. They are making recommendations based on those studies, in addition to making other recommendations to achieve health goals.
We are extremely satisfied with our experience. It’s only the beginning, This is the first stage of Prime Meridian, there are multiple floors and they are only operating on their first floor. It will be interesting to see how far they will take this.
Prime Meridian Health care was unprecedented. A clinic staffed with various medical professionals that were open to natural healthcare? This was pioneered by dōTERRA, health and wellness company. Other companies focus on selling and marketing products. dōTERRA takes it to the next level by working with farmers and growers, researches, educators, and health care professionals. This was more than a business for dōTERRA, it was a mission.
It reaffirmed my belief in dōTERRA’s mission in changing lives. It wasn’t just about selling health products. Prime Meridian would serve a model of a healthcare system that provides better quality of care and lowering the burden on the current healthcare system. By focusing more on prevention and integrative health which take more time in the short run, it will help lower the burden of healthcare in the long run, providing a benefit to society.
Prime Meridian Healthcare, doTERRA’s research initiatives, Co-Impact Sourcing initiative, and Healing Hands Foundation are all reasons why I enjoy being part of the company. I’m just glad to be part of the journey and witness history.
